Before I became a virtual assistant on November 2012, I was a
student taking up BS Electrical Engineering in my second year at MSU-IIT. My
life went disarray when my scholarship got suspended, and I can't let my
parents know it yet. I tried to apply on any fast food chains just to earn a
penny for me to live. But still, the salary of a part-time employee of this companies is too
little to accommodate my daily necessities. I am at my peak of my youth that
time, so I got a lot of friends and us also hang
out almost every
night. But then one day, one of my friend told me that I wasted my time and
money doing those things. And he introduced me to his cousin who does online
jobs for a living. And
that's the time when my virtual assistant career started.
I was a third party virtual
assistant at my first 3 years in this industry. My salary is low
but it's more than enough for me to live and also hangs
out with my friends. I
was doing facebook page management, code generation for facebook and other
social media accounts. I also did WhatsApp code generation and Line. Almost
all of our work are done with the use of Philippine cellphone numbers or sim
cards. I was the first employee until we grow bigger. We also took some customer service jobs like call center but
it's a non-voice and we use avatars so we just click the script to answer our
clients. And that's my first 3 years of virtual assistant third party career.
December 2015, I started to
work on my own. My first client was a British and I can hardly understand him
when we first talk at skype. I'm not very good at speaking English so that was
so awkward because he interviewed me in an internet cafe. But it was a success
because he hires me. My jobs are
mostly on kindle books
on amazon. I promote his books and make
sure that someone will post some reviews on his books. It's a very easy job and
the pay is good. I was able to keep it up for almost a year until I stop to
rest because I got bored.
At present, May 2017, as I was
undergoing an online jobs training, I was
encouraged to be a
virtual assistant again. Not only I miss it, but because I learned more about
it. I was introduced to new and more important skill on this kind of job or
services. I got colleagues to look forward
working with. Our instructor is very good in teaching and approachable which
allow us to be more specific in understanding the courses. I can now put a good
profile and online portfolio on my online job account. I can provide more
service and skills for my future clients. This training also has a big impact on my future career. It
makes me think twice my future plan because I was
supposed to go abroad
to earn dollars. I was on the verge of completing all my requirements to go
overseas but I postponed it for this training. I really do have a big
expectation for the outcome of this training. And I also think that it's much
better to work here earning dollars than working abroad earning the same or
less. Lastly, this training is my life's turning point for my future virtual
assistant career.
